Dave Haslam and Dale Hibbert
Dave Haslam Interviews Dale Hibbert
Writer/DJ Dave Haslam interviews Dale Hibbert, bass-player in the first line-up of the Smiths, about his newly-published memoir ‘Boy, Interrupted’ which not only reveals much about Morrissey and Marr and the early days of the band, but also Dale’s own intriguing, often troubled life before and since his days with the Smiths.
The event takes place on Thursday 29th September at 7pm.
Dave Haslam says; “I was drawn to this not only because of what it reveals about the early ideas/music of Morrissey and Marr but also because Dale has had a troubled life before and since his days with the Smiths, dealing with the death of his mother when he was just eight days old, family breakdown, Aspergers, and a series of failed marriages. It’s an intriguing, very human story.”
During the evening Dale will play demo versions of Smiths songs he recorded, plus Morrissey and Marr playing the song “I want a boy for my birthday” – which he was given (on cassette) by Johnny Marr so that he could familiarise himself with the song.
The book will be on sale at the event, and a signing session will follow the inconversation.
