Andrew Salomone
Ravenous Apparitions
New York based artist, teacher, and writer Andrew Salomone is heading to PLY to prove there’s more to pizza than meets the eye. Wow, we rhyme!
Andrew is an experimental artist who works with traditional art and craft processes informed by technology and DIY culture. His exhibition at PLY is an extension of his ‘pizzoetrope’ project – which uses pizzas, record decks and strobe lighting to create the illusion of motion.
We’re all about disco pizza after all…
Using this process, Andrew will create a set of animations that will be on display at PLY both as installations and finished pieces of film.
To launch his exhibition, Andrew will be flying over from New York to run an animation workshop where you will be able to create your own moving images – firstly creating your own animations on slip mats (DJs, listen up!) and then recreating these animations on pizzas fresh out of the PLY oven!
This promises to be both an intriguing and delicious start to the show!
As ever, our arts partner, Absolut, will be PLYing you with drinks and those who take part in the workshop will get to eat their picturesque pizza!
The exhibition runs daily until 30th August and is FREE.
This event is being delivered in partnership with Absolut and Fred Aldous.
